Bjork has written a new song for the forthcoming Finnish children's movie, 'Moomins and the Comet Chase,' according to Pitchfork. The Icelandic singer will lend her unique pop approach to the film, which explores the hippo-like trolls created by author/illustrator Tove Jansson. Titled 'The Comet Song,' it was written by Bjork with her frequent collaborator Sjón, who doubles as the author of titles like 'Bachelorette' and 'Wanderlust.' According to Bjork's website, the movie from Filmkompaniet is expected to be released in August or September of 2010.
"The Moomin trolls are back, and this time they are dancing to Bjork's flute," the singer's website explains. "Well, we cannot confirm that there will be any actual flutes or dancing involved, BUT! Bjork and Sjón have put their creative heads together again and made a new song."
Both Bjork and Sjón are reportedly big Moomin fans who have been known to sport t-shirts and neckties sporting the characters. When he was awarded the Nordic Literature Prize a couple years ago, Sjón was seen with small Moomins on his tie.
