Buckcherry Singer Is Fans' Favorite to Replace Steven Tyler

The ongoing Aerosmith singer saga continues this week after Rolling Stone ran a fans' poll over the weekend. The magazine asked readers who they would like to see front the band. The result? Buckcherry singer Josh Todd was in first place.

The poll was prompted by reports that singer Steven Tyler wishes to take a two-year hiatus from the band. Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has stated that he plans to carry on with the band with or without Tyler.

It's some honour for Todd given that other notable names in the top ten include some genuine rock 'n' roll legends. The New York Dolls' David Johansen came in at two, Iggy Pop at five, the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten at eight and Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell at ten.

Somewhat bizarrely ex-American Idol star Adam Lambert reached a respectable fourth place, with man mountain Meatloaf at six. Sounds like we have quite the competition on our hands.

Great! Leave naming a replacement for someone who's not even considering leaving the band to a bunch of teenager's who probably don't even pay for their own cellphones. Real smart move there. Stupidity knows no bounds, especially in the age of the internet..

Rolling Stone magazine just conducted an informal survey, that's all! Jeez! It's not as if the results of the poll ACTUALLY DECIDE who will be their temporary new lead singer (if he even takes the 2 years off). Did you think this was some kind of real, official election process? It was just an opinion poll, so relax.

THERE IS NO AEROSMITH WITHOUT STEVEN TYLER. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING. IF JOE PERRY THINKS JUST BECAUSE HE IS A GREAT LEAD PLAYER, HE CAN REPLACE STEVEN TYLER HE HAS LOST HIS MIND. NO STEVEN TYLER-NO AEROSMITH PERIOD, END OF STORY.

I find this really interesting. I love Josh Todd! I think he has an amazing voice that is sometimes overlooked as a result of Buckcherry's vulgar image and lyrics. This proves he’s getting the respect he deserves. Then again part of me will be sad if Josh gets the gig because I'm a huge Buckcherry fan and I want him to make new stuff instead of pretending to be Steven Tyler.

At this point in Aerosmith's career, it's not a wise decision to replace Steven. I don't understand why he needs to take a 2 year hiatus though - I mean, all Aerosmith has done in the past 5 years or so is like 1 tour.

I must correct you. They've been touring for a few years now. I've been to each of their concerts for the past 5 years now (NY, at Jones Beach theater). Look, Steven is TRYING to get himself together. He's not with his wife, he's 61 now, had a really bad fall from stage and is trying to get comfy with a new girlfriend. Can you honestly blame the guy for wanting some time off?!Put yourself in his shoes (not that anyone can ever fill them....). Joe is just a pouting little boy who just wants his way. He wants to play and that's all he knows! He doesn't give a shit about anyone else!

NO1 IS BETTER THAN STEVEN TYLER!!!!!!!
NO1 COULD EVER REPLACE SUCH A SINGER!!!
THE WAY HE SINGS ND THEN STARTS TO SCREAM YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL HIS EMOTIONS IN THE SONGS I DONT KNOW WHY ANY1 WOULD EVER TRY TO REPLACE ANYTHING IN AEROSMITH. THE BAND STARTED WITH STEVEN TYLER AND IT SHALL END WITH STEVEN TYLER. U NEVER SAW AXL ROSE BEING REPLACED IN GUNS N' ROSES THATS BECAUSE HE IS PART OF THE BAND, THE BAND COULD NEVER B ANYTHING WITHOUT STEVEN TYLER!!!!!! LET AEROSMITH LIVE AND DIE WITH STEVE TYLER!!!!!

You are so right - NO one can or should replace Steven Tyler. If he needs to take a hiatus, let them form a new band, but don't call it Aerosmith. It's not Aerosmith without Stevie.

I agree with you there. Without Steven, it`s not Aerosmith. However, there ARE 4 other guys who have an awesome chemistry together. Why should they stop playing together just because Tyler wants out? (BTW he IS 62 - he can take a break if he fu*king well wants to and damn anyone who says otherwise - including Perry!). Get a new singer, reform under a new name (a la Audioslave) and take it down a whole new avenue. Perry & co. can still be great without being Aerosmith !

Aerosmith might as well call it a day, or call it a night, or sail off into the sunset!!! Because anyone who's been with this band since the begining, knows there is no, no, no replacing the one and only, let me state this again there is no one that can or could ever remotely replace the one and only ,,, the one and only great Steven Tyler.. And I cannot express that stongly enough....
