Lenny Kravitz Turning 'Precious' Cameo Into Leading Role

Lenny KravitzActing is in Lenny Kravitz's blood. His mother, Roxie Roker, starred on the 'Jeffersons,' his daughter Zoe Kravitz is an actress who appeared in 'No Reservations' among other films and he was once married to actress Lisa Bonet of 'The Cosby Show' fame. Now, in the two decades since he began his music career and became a rock star, Kravitz is finally on the silver screen.

The rocker can currently be seen briefly in the hit indie film 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.' But the next time he and 'Precious' director Lee Daniels work together, Kravitz will be the star. "I saw him this morning, we had breakfast together, and we're not sure exactly what we're doing. There are two or three options. But yes, I'm going to be doing a film and this time I'm going to be in the lead position," Kravitz tells Spinner. "It's going to be a lot of responsibility and a lot of time -- it's very exciting."

One rumored choice that makes a lot of sense is a musical, but Kravitz says that's not necessarily where they're headed. "There's one option that has elements of that, but the other two options we're looking at right now are not. They're dramatic," he says.

So who would Kravitz, who after 20 years of music stardom surely has a lot of film friends, like to work with? "Oh wow, it's hard to say because it would really be based on who can play those roles," he says. "But I'd love to work with anybody who's a great actor. I don't have anybody in mind."

His music fans can breathe easy though -- there will be new music in 2010 whether he does a musical or not. Having just finished a brief US tour to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of 'Let Love Rule,' he is already back at work on a new album, due next year. "I'm really anxious to get in the studio and finish this record," he says. "I'm gonna go in the studio and lock myself up for two months and see how it all comes out."

I am a big fan of his. I have 4 CDs of his and missed his atlanta concert because it was so close to another concert. I would see precious to see his acting chops! His music is awesome and I suspect he is a powerful actor. He is extremely talented. Please Come back to Atl soon. I have never seen him live.
