Ben Gibbard Won't See 'New Moon' This Weekend
Death Cab for Cutie's 'Meet Me at the Equinox' may be the first single of the 'New Moon' soundtrack, but frontman Ben Gibbard will be skipping the film's opening weekend."I have plans already this weekend," Gibbard told Spinner at the mtvU Woodie Awards. "I'm sure there's enough people seeing it this weekend that they're not going to need my 10 bucks. I feel pretty confident about that."
With his band's contribution to 'New Moon' and the more recent collaboration with Son Volt's Jay Farrar for the documentary about Jack Kerouac's novel, 'Big Sur,' Gibbard's on a run of literary projects. He says if he could choose a book to put to music, it would be about David James Duncan's novel, 'The Brothers K,' his favorite American novel in the last 30 years.
"I don't know exactly how it would be put to song," Gibbard said. "But I think if Jay Farrar can put 'Big Sur' to song, I think we could do just about anything."
