From walking the red carpet to her performances with She and Him partner M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel never fails to sport the vintage. Therefore, it's no surprise that that this starlet takes it way back and admits '60s country singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry is what she's been listening to recently.

"Her voice is incredible," Deschanel told Spinner at the mtvU Woodie Awards. "There's a record of hers called 'Patchwork' that's really fantastic."

And not only does Deschanel listen to Gentry's music, but she'd even cover one of her songs if given the opportunity. "It's hard because there's so many great songs," she said. "There's a song called 'Fancy' that would be a great song to cover."

As Spinner previously reported, Deschanel and Ward have been in the studio working on a follow-up to 2008's Volume One. Deschanel says that the new album, titled 'Volume Two,' "is very close to done" and will be out in spring 2010. While Ward told Paste that She and Him's sophomore record will be better than the first album, Deschanel wants listeners to hear it and decide. "It's hard to encapsulate," she said. "I think you'll have to hear it."
