Michael Jackson's sequinned glove –the pop star's most iconic accessories – sold more $350,000 (£212,000) in New York on the weekend. The glove, which Jackson wore on his left hand during his concerts and videos during his 1980s heyday – was one of a raft of the pop star's effects sold at the auction in New York.
Auctioneer Darren Julien said the 1983 television appearance where Jackson first performed the Moonwalk - wearing the glove - had been his "most historical performance." Including taxes and fees, the overall price for the glove was $425,000 (255,000).
Organisers were surprised at the level of interest in the sale. A jacket worn by Jackson on his 1989 Bad tour was sold for $225,000 (£135,000) while a fedora hat he had worn went for $22,000 (£13,400). These were among 70 items up for sale.
"It's a tribute to his life and career - he's truly an amazing artist," said Mr Julien.
The glove was bought by Hong Kong businessman Hoffman Ma on behalf of a hotel in Macau China. The glove will now go on display at the hotel.
