The Specials' Terry Hall Blasts Jerry Dammers and David Gray
- Posted on Nov 25th 2009 7:45AM by Julian Marszalek
It seems that some things just don't change despite the passing of the years. The Specials' deadpan singer Terry Hall, managed to find time among the exuberant moonstomping to blast former colleague Jerry Dammers and singer David Gray from the stage at the first of the reformed ska band's three gigs at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo Tuesday night (Nov. 24).After guitarist Lynval Golding dedicated 'A Message To You Rudy' to current keyboard player Nik Torp, Hall retorted: "It's nice to work with someone without a God complex." Founder member Jerry Dammers had declined to take part in the reunion having described it as a "takeover" and claiming that he'd been forced out of the band.
But Hall saved his ire for 'Babylon' singer David Gray. Introducing 'Hey Little Rich Girl', Hall said: "I'd like to dedicate this to David Gray's big, round, bobbing head -- every f------ inch it!" Having played 'Blank Expression', Hall justified his outburst by saying, "Well, he is a c---!"
Hall is no stranger to controversial comments. Earlier this year at a gig in Leeds, the singer -- referring to Leeds United's 1992 sale of Eric Cantona to Manchester United -- quipped, "Thanks very much for Cantona." A shower of coins from the partisan crowd led Hall to hastily add, "It was only a joke!"

Now, now young blood. Why not take a listen, perhaps learn a bit...might be suprized. I aint the only one tired of this packages, over-produced, electronic voice-box, crap that's out there today.
You may not have heard of The Specials,(yet) but they may have been the most important band of the last 3 years.
"alltime greatest article of no name loser musicians i've ever seen."
that's an awful lot of extreme words
all time
greatest
no name
loser musicians
... and you've never even listened to them?
Terry Hall & Jerry Dammers were in The Specials - they're legends in the UK, but never really made it here beyond a cult following. Still, they matter to enough people to be on this site; don't like it, go somewhere else.
