    Kasabian Singer Lays into 'X-Factor'

Talent show 'The X Factor' has been blasted by Kasabian singer Tom Meighan (pictured) who has accused the programme of shamelessly manipulating its contestants.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he raged: "'The X Factor' is like something the Riddler would do in Batman. It sucks out everyone's brains.

"I can't believe how appallingly low we have gone as a nation for people to watch that pile of s---. It's appalling music. It's shocking."

Meighan went on to express his concern at how Jedward and 'Britain's Got Talent''s Susan Boyle have been thrust into the limelight, ill-prepared for fame: "The twins, John and Edward, are poor kids who don't know what is going on. They have lost their heads. These kids have no idea.

"Look at Susan Boyle. It is appalling what they have done to her. She doesn't know, does she, bless her. Poor thing. They are making her into this massive star and it is ridiculous. It will torture her for the rest of her life. She is not ready for it and she is not made for it. She is being manipulated. It's horrible."

He then leveled the greatest criticism at the X Factor's judges, questioning just how qualified they are to cast judgment on others: "Simon Cowell must be laughing. For him, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole - -who was once a contestant on 'Popstars: The Rivals' -- and Dannii Minogue, who has had very few pop hits in her life, to sit there and judge people, it's incredible."

Absolutely spot on, it's supposed to be a talent contest but even when given a choice of 2 artists they vote off the more talented.

I think this years show more than any other has highlighted the points made above that they are exploiting these artists for their own gain. Just look at Leon Jackson, as soon as his album flopped he was dropped. They have no long term interest in anyone unless they will ultimately fill their pockets.

If you enter this Show with an ounce of talent you will not stand a chance, they dont want talent as you can see from the performers going out. This is a money spinner and no other word for it.Its like all things its passed its sell buy date as so as the Judges

its all about the cash ie opening the phonelines 24hours more how much millions more have they made by that alone and yet the public fall for it each time. simon cowell told the truth when he said he always trusted the public. he trusts them to be gullible and swallow everything they are told like cheryl cole can sing if so let her do what the contestants do no gimmicks or dance routines to distract you just stand at a mike and sing i very much doubt she could well not in tune anyway

this is really true and it seems half the country or more are fast asleep. pop has eaten itself. even bands like kasabian good tho they may be are just a regurgitation of all theres ever been
since nirvana there has never been a proper musical progresion, except for the dance scene which was shoved down our throat for ten years too long

It's just a shame that it has taken this long for anybody to wake up and realise that Xfactor and all it's spin-off's, are basicly souped up 1950's style variety shows. In 10 years time we'll be cringing that we watched it.

Its been happening for years, I used to watch bands live in Liverpool years ago, some were really good, they wrote their own songs and could play, but got nowhere because of the commercial C---, which is always being promoted

If you don't like Simon, Louis, Danii or Cheyl controlling music or their choice of acts, then it's simple - just don't watch their shows. Get on Jango radio and listen to the up and coming independents. More life and talent there than in any TV manufactured celeb show!

Agree with all this. Simon Cowell has conned the world. How he has got away with it god only knows. Trouble is the X factor won't be going away any time soon. Apparently it's keeping ITV afloat.
