When the duo -- childhood friends Dave "Dave-1" Macklovitch and Patrick "Pee Thugg" Gemayel -- dropped their 2004 debut 'She's in Control,' its anachronistic odes to the sexy funk that poured out of Minneapolis two decades earlier seemed gimmicky to some. But when their breakthrough album, 'Fancy Footwork,' was released three years later, it embraced the era with such reverence that it was impossible to ever believe Chromeo were making a joke of it.
Two years later, Chromeo have finally returned with their slickest, sexiest track yet, 'Night by Night.' The video features Dave-1 cutting a rug with a bevy of beautiful women in a dusty warehouse, all by the light of a big rig's high beams. Watch the clip below.
Chromeo are booked to headline a New Year's Eve showcase at Club Nokia in Los Angeles and will bring their wailing guitars and robot vocals to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics in February.
