A Grammy nod is the latest notch on the ladder for the band, who scored an iPod commercial with 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' and topped the charts with 'That's Not My Name.'
Following news of the nomination, singer Katie White and drummer Jules De Martino say they are "delighted" with the honor. They credit the nomination in part to their tour schedule. "All that hard touring of the USA did us proud," they wrote on their website. "Thanks to everyone who came to see us and supported us."
The news stunned the band at 5 a.m. Friday morning as they were readying for a flight from Berlin to L.A. for more live dates.
"We got into our driver's car in a daze of gobsmacked-ness and forgot to take our bags to the airport," they explained, "... so we ended up missing our flight."
The Ting Tings have now made it to L.A., where they're playing at KIIS FM's sold-out Jingle Ball this Saturday night alongside fellow Grammy nominees Keri Hilson and Taylor Swift, among others. After that, the duo heads to the East Coast for several more Christmas-themed appearances.
The pair then turn to their second album, which they spent most of November working on and which will reportedly feature some collaborations with Jay-Z. "Can't wait to play you some new tunes next year," they write. "I think you might like it."
