Sexual Chocolate Coming Back to America Via Jam Cruise

It's not often you hear big news from fictional beauty pageant bands, but Sexual Chocolate -- fronted by Randy Watson (aka Eddie Murphy) -- hasn't really been in the public eye since their film debut in the 1988 comedy 'Coming to America.' The band's musical director, Karl Denson, tells Spinner that Sexual Chocolate has been busy playing fictional beauty pageants but will perform a real-life one-off gig on Jan. 7. It gets weirder yet: the show takes place in the belly of a cruise ship as it's "coming back to America" from stops in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. The strange journey is all part of Jam Cruise, an annual music festival at sea that has become something of a grand prize for jam bands and their fans over the past eight years. This year's line-up includes Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9), Galactic, Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), Toubab Krewe, the Mother Hips, Maceo Parker, Zappa Plays Zappa, Lotus and others.
As for Sexual Chocolate, Denson relays the following message that he claims comes from none other than Randy Watson himself: "We've been on the beauty pageant circuit for the past seven years, doing in the area of 230 shows a year," he says. "There are an amazing amount of pageants around the country if you know where to look, and all the beauties love themselves a little Sexual Chocolate." Watson also, allegedly, told Denson that Jam Cruise could expect "a neat, nasty bit of nautical nectar."
OK, this is where you scratch your head and go, "WTF?" But as for Jam Cruise itself, well, it's simple -- the ship sets sail on the high seas for a week beginning Jan 3 and you better believe that boat is a rockin'.

Shawn you're right but unfortunately that separation happened along time ago. Films like the original Shaft, Superfly and Cotton Comes To Harlem and even Let's Do It Again are called blaxploitation films. However there seems to be no such thing as a whiteploitation film. Not the French Connection, not The Hunter, not The Getaway, not Dirty Harry, etc. They are just plain classics, which they are. The thing is a lot of older white folks didn't go to 'Black' movies. I mean it goes to all areas of life. Some whites still refer to Malcolm X as a militant racist yet how many educated white people have really read Alex Haley's book.
