Sigur Ros Frontman Jonsi Birgisson Reveals Solo Record Details
While Jonsi Birgisson has been known to sing in Icelandic or his made-up language of Vonlenska (aka Hopelandic), most of the Sigur Ros frontman's debut solo album will actually be in English, according to Pitchfork. 'Go,' which is set for release on March 23 under the name Jonsi, will feature nine songs that were co-produced by Jonsi, his boyfriend Alex Somers and Peter Katis, who's helmed albums for the National and Interpol. Mum member and Finnish percussionist Samuli Josminen and composer Nico Muhly also contributed to the album, which was recorded in both Iceland and Connecticut.
While there are no set dates for Jonsi's world tour next year, Sigur Rós fans can download a free album track, 'Boy Lilikoi,' and see behind-the-scenes video clips on Jonsi.com.
