It' has been confirmed that River Cuomo suffered both a punctured lung and a cut spleen during last weekend's tour bus accident. The Weezer frontman is still in hospital following the crash which occurred as the band was en route to a gig in Boston, Mass. last Sunday (Dec. 6).Weezer's promotional tour for new album, 'Ratitude,' has been cancelled.
A posting on the band's website revealed the extent of Cuomo's injuries: "Rivers' internal injuries included both a small cut on his spleen and a small puncture in his lung.
"An internal cut needs to be carefully monitored to see if it is healing up or not.
"The lung puncture was small so the lung did not fully collapse, and thus no surgery was needed for that, but it also has to be monitored carefully."
Doctors have confirmed that Cuomo will be released form hospital in the next few days but have warned him against flying back to L.A. as this may risk damaging his lung further.
The band joked that, "...getting him back to L.A. will be an interesting adventure!"
The singer is said to be making "good progress".
