Glastonbury Rumour Mill Throws Up An Unlikely Name

While the Glastonbury rumour mill has focused its attention on who is likely to join stadium behemoths U2 in the two remaining headlining slots - bombastic prog-rockers Muse and veterans the Rolling Stones are still the hot favourites - other names have started to emerge to fill the other remaining slots.Stepping up to the plate is Barbadian superstar Rihanna who said that she would "love to" play Glastonbury. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (Dec. 10) to launch her eight-date UK arena tour, the singer was asked if she would like to like to emulate her mentor Jay-Z, who controversially headlined the festival in 2008.
She said: "I would love to be there. Even if I'm not headlining I'd love to be there. It's a great festival and a great platform for me to be on."
The Glastonbury festival has a tradition of catering for pop tastes and is widely credited with helping to launch Robbie Williams' solo career thanks to his legendary Saturday afternoon tea-time slot in 1998, while the likes of Scissor Sisters have also taken the festival by storm.
Given the festival's propensity for wet weather, Rihanna's global smash 'Umbrella' may well prove to be a true Glastonbury 'moment' iif she does, indeed, turn up.
