It's been a good decade for a little British band called Coldplay. Four million-selling albums, a clutch of hit singles, tours that have traversed the world and a place at the top of rock's hierarchy at the end of the decade. And now the band are auctioning off some of the spoils of that decade -- including costumes, gold discs, guitars and other instruments -- to the highest bidder to raise money for a London kids' charity this month.
The band said: "We're pleased to announce the Coldplay End of Decade Clearout Sale."
They added, "Over the past ten years we've accumulated a lot of guitars, keyboards, amps, posters, platinum discs and all sorts of nostalgia.
"From Dec. 17 until Dec. 31, we're going to auction them on eBay. All items will either be signed by the four of us, or accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, again signed by all of us.
"Proceeds will go to Kids Company, an incredible charity that helps vulnerable children and young people in London.
"There will be a PDF catalogue of all the items, which will be available from Coldplay.com ahead of the auction. Good luck with your bidding and Happy Christmas."
The band have created a mock department store video on their site to help raise interest in the sale.
The auction will include the costumes the band are wearing on their current world tour, which finishes in March. The costumes will then be sent to the winning bidder.
