Karen O has just been put in a league with Peter Gabriel, Quincy Jones and the Police's Stewart Copeland. Earlier today, the Hollywood Foreign Press announced that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman is up for a Best Original Score Golden Globe for her work with Carter Burwell on the 'Where the Wild Things Are' soundtrack. The Golden Globe nod comes in the wake of her by-default Grammy nomination in the Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media category, which she received last week after Miley Cyrus was disqualified. Although O's got some tough competition for the Globe -- she's up against Disney/Pixar's 'Up' as well as the upcoming blockbuster 'Avatar' -- the real competition is in the Best Original Song category.
Paul McCartney's 'I Want to Come Home,' which is featured in the Robert DeNiro film 'Everybody's Fine,' is nominated alongside U2's 'Winter' from 'Brothers' and the T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham 'Crazy Heart' theme song, 'The Weary Kind.' Others rounding out the Best Original Song in a Motion Picture category include the catchy 'Cinema Italiano' from the Federico Fellini-inspired musical 'Nine' and Avatar's 'I See You.'
The 67th Golden Globes will be broadcast Jan. 17, 2010 at 8PM ET on NBC.
