Following the success of 'The Beatles: Rock Band', it has been announced that Grammy-winning punk rock trio Green Day are to be the next band to have their own standalone title."We've worked with the 'Rock Band' team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from '21st Century Breakdown,' and we're excited to now be working on a game spanning our entire career," said Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong (pictured) in a statement announcing the deal. "We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks and play along with us as 'Rock Band' avatars so they can feel what it's like to perform on stage as Green Day."
The game will allow the band's fans to relive every point of Green Day's long career from playing their songs, viewing their artwork and revisiting key venues.
Diving headlong into the channel of music distribution, Green Day have also confirmed that three more tracks from their latest album, '21st Century Breakdown' -- 'Last of the American Girls', 'Christian's Inferno' and '¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl)' -- will be available as downloadable content from the 'Rock Band' music store.
This isn't Green Day's first foray into a new medium. As previously reported, the band's multi-million selling album, 'Ameican Idiot', has been turned into an acclaimed musical and is set to move to Broadway in the near future.
