Flaming Lips to Headline Green Man

Green Man Festival organisers last week promised a "special announcement" regarding their first confirmed headline act for 2010 -- and it's emerged the the Flaming Lips will headline the festival's Saturday night next summer.

Green Man continues its residence at Glanusk Park, Powys in 2010 and takes place on August 20-22, with tickets are on sale now. Last year, headliners included Jarvis Cocker, Animal Collective and Wilco.

Wayne Coyne and his band are currently finishing up a short UK tour in support of their latest record, the epic double album 'Embryonic'. That marked their first tour of the British Isles in three years. Their debut appearance at the UK's most family-friendly festival signals a welcome return to the festival stage for the Oklahoma trio, famed for concerts including life-sized teletubbies and the band taking the stage from inside a giant plastic bubble.

The Flaming Lips also host their New Year's Eve Freakout show in their home city, which this year promises to include a full performance of 'Dark Side Of The Moon', which they recently re-recorded as an iTunes-exclusive release.
