Rufus Wainwright has announced the title of his new album, with 'All Days Are Nights: Song For Lulu' set for release in Spring 2010. The Canadian-American, fresh from a starring role as part of 'A Not So Silent Night,' a Christmas concert with family and friends at London's Royal Albert Hall, will also tour the UK in April. Kicking off at Sadlers Wells in the capital on Apr. 13, he will play ten dates.
The new record marks a return to pop songwriting following the premiere of his opera 'Prima Donna' in Manchester in July, and his 'Rufus Does Judy At Carnegie Hall' album. It promises to be a stripped-down affair of piano and voice only, with the same set-up on tour.
On his last tour to these shores in 2008 he previewed new material in the shape of 'Who Are You New York?' and 'Zebulon.'
Last year, with typical modesty, Rufus said of his new material: "The album will just be a solo piano/voice, just sitting in the studio alone and making it about the music. It's an opportunity to have this slight moment of intimacy with me - which I know everyone wants."
Concert tickets go on general sale on Dec. 18.
