Devendra Banhart Kicks Up a Stink With Fab Moretti

Taking side projects and extra-curricular activities on a sharp detour, neo-hippy Devendra Banhart has said that he and Strokes drummer Fab Moretti are to release their own brand of cologne.

Speaking to NME Radio's Sarah Kerr, Banhart explained that the scent was to be called 'Ninja Smell' before claiming that the pair had already recorded a TV advert to promote it.

He said, "We have a band called Permanent Adventure and we wear helmets, and we have contact mics on the helmets. And we run at each other, and that's the percussive element.

"And then I say 'What are you on?' and he says 'I'm on a permanent adventure.' And that's the scope of the ad campaign where we're selling our product, which is extreme cologne."

Quite whether Ninja Smell is ever likely to hit the shops or not (and we're guessing not) Banhart confirmed that the second album from Little Joy -- the band he formed with Moretti -- would be released by Rough Trade sometime in 2010.
