British singer Amy Winehouse is allegedly engaged to ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil just three months after their divorce was finalized. Blake Fielder-Civil, 31, confirmed the engagement Winehouse, 26, to the UK newspaper the Sun. Calling Winehouse "the love of my life," Fielder-Civil said that this time, the pair are "doing things properly and hopefully that will help our families both come round to the idea."
Fielder-Civil is currently being treated for drug addiction at a rehab facility in Sheffield, England, but says he is "100 percent clean." He and Winehouse have "talked about ... starting a family," he added. "We both definitely want kids."
Winehouse's goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, a recording artist on Winehouse's label, recently said Winehouse had visited Fielder-Civil in Sheffield in order to "call it quits. Seriously. They're over now," Bromfield said.
But this week, posts on Winehouse's Twitter and Facebook accounts suggested otherwise, as NME reported. Last Monday Winehouse tweeted, "I'm DONE with the papers. BLAKE DIDN'T THREATEN SUICIDE if I said I wouldn't come to see him -- in fact I'd bin beggin' to come see him 4 months." On Facebook she wrote, "What's the point in trying to stand in the way of true love?"
But for the pair, true love has run the gamut from allegations of cheating to drug addiction, health issues and jail time. The pair wedded in Miami in May 2007. But Fielder-Civil was jailed in November 2007 after attempting obstruction of justice following charges stemming from his assault of a pub landlord. He was released late last year, and is believed to have gone to rehab as part of the terms of his release.
Earlier this year, Winehouse was photographed looking intimate with the actor Josh Bowman in St. Lucia, prompting Fielder-Civil to file for divorce on the grounds that Winehouse had been unfaithful. The divorce was finalized in September.
After several botched performances including an Island Records anniversary party in London that Winehouse failed to show up for, the singer appeared on stage during the Specials' V Festival set in August. Since then, she has been focused on her label, Lioness Records, and promoting Dionne Bromfield's first album. She sings backing vocals on several of the album's tracks.
