U2 bassist Adam Clayton has received a court order to temporary freeze the assets of his former assistant, Carol Hawkins, amid allegations that she stole roughly $2.5 million from him. Clayton, pictured on the right, fired Hawkins in November after she admitted she had "misappropriated" some of Clayton's money, including using his credit and debit cards for her own purposes.
But Hawkins is disputing the amount of money she is claimed to have stolen.
The High Court in Clayton's hometown of Dublin, Ireland heard on Friday that Hawkins allegedly used his money to purchase family vacations and an apartment in New York City, reports Contact Music.
The case has been adjourned until Monday, Dec. 21.
U2 spent much of the year on its 360 Tour for latest album 'No Line On The Horizon.' The tour, which wraps in 2010, is set to gross about $750 million, according to U2 manager Paul McGuinness.
But that certainly won't be the end of the touring road for the busy Irishmen. U2 will also be headlining Glastonbury 2010, it was recently announced.
