Joshua Ostroff's Best of the 2000s
- Posted on Dec 22nd 2009 11:00PM by Joshua Ostroff
As a hippie offspring who grew up during the birth of hip-hop, was in high-school for the alt-rock revolution and raved his weekends away during university, it seems a little sad that the 2000s boasted no similar mass movement.
But that's not to say the past decade was lacking in mind-blowing music. Quite the opposite, actually. The splintering communal crowd and internet-fueled indie scene gave ever more musicians a chance to be heard and ever more fans a chance to find their new favourite band all while breaking down the barriers between artist and audience in a manner that would have made even Kurt Cobain smile.
Besides, when it mattered we all shook it like a Polaroid picture during 'Hey Ya!'
