30 Seconds to Mars, 'Faces of Mars' -- Exclusive Video

30 Seconds to MarsFans have been swapping the new 30 Seconds to Mars album 'This Is War' the way peopled used to trade Pokemon or sports trading cards. What makes one copy of 'This Is War' better than another? The one with their face on the cover. As we previously reported, continuing their initiative to be the most fan-friendly band, Jared Leto and company invited fans to take part in the 'Faces of Mars' campaign and have their photo featured on an personalized album cover. And now that the disc is out, people want the copy featuring their pic.

"We saw someone last night who, someone had found their face in France and mailed it to them and they lived in Chicago. We've seen those kind of stories all over the country," Jared Leto tells Spinner. "There's a scavenger hunt aspect, a collectors' aspect to it."

While Leto says, "We encourage fair trade" to celebrate the "interactivity" of the project, there's been some big business aspect to it as well. "I heard that one was selling on eBay for $2500 or has already sold, so there'll always be some of that," he says. "I think somebody had a face of someone and that person wanted it really bad."

If you haven't got the one you want, don't feel too left out -- even the band's frontman has found them hard to find. "There were two Conan O'Brien covers and Ben Stiller got one of them, Conan got the other," he says. "I was trying to get a hold of one of the Conan O'Brien's."

The experiment has been so successful that the band is hoping to continue it on the next pressing of the album. If it does happen, Leto believes the next round will be even better. "Now people understand what it is and how it's just been in good fun and good spirit," he says. "So I think next time will be an even wider group."

This band, over ten years into their career, still come up with things no one else does, and put so much passion into everything they do. I'm proud to be a part of this large dysfunctional family that is Thirty Seconds to Mars. =)

Lighten up, have a sense of humor...sounds like you've already been drinking the Kool-Aid. Your reply is little over the top. Happy Holidays regardless!

Nowhere in the email does it say Obama is the savior of the people. I am referring to their embracing of their audience and including them in the process of creating their album and increasing popularity. The same way Obama embraced change, out of the box thinking, and reached out to progressive thinking people.

So innovative, creative, genius, and inclusive...
They are an amazing band and so out of the box and the fans are right there with them pushing them to higher levels than any regular marketing previously done with this or any other group. Grass roots all the way... It's the Obama of the bands...30 STM.
