Gene Simmons Sued Over Alleged Shopping Mall Attack

Gene SimmonsKiss bassist, comic book superhero and celebrity playboy Gene Simmons successfully dodged a restraining order on Wednesday only to be smacked by a civil lawsuit on Thursday. TMZ reports that Nathan Marlowe and Cynthia Manzo are suing Simmons over an alleged incident of assault and battery, which in turn, of course, caused the couple emotional distress.

No word on whether or not "theft" is included in the action itself, but the complaint stems from a December 19 incident, at a Los Angeles area shopping mall, that Marlowe claims ended by Simmons making off with his camera. First, however, Simmons is accused of grabbing both Marlowe and Manzo by the neck, in turn, and threatening their lives. Simmons was provoked when Marlowe tried to film him at the mall, asking him questions about his sexual reputation.
Simmons -- internationally known for his tongue-wagging sexual innuendos -- famously claims to have slept with over a thousand women. But, apparently, he doesn't like to be questioned about it while doing last-minute holiday shopping. Or something.

Gene, Gene, Gene, ya gotta protect the family jewels man. If your being harassed by some mere mortal, call the Polizei and have them arrested. You worked for your money, don't let yourself be forced to give it away. Make the system work for you.

I hope that this isn't true. But then think of it this way... if Gene was a regular Joe and not famous wouldn't he react like any of us if we discovered someone was video taping us? I'm a female and I would react quickly if someone was illegally videotaping me!

It isn't illegal to film others in a public space. You also can't expect privacy when you are in public.

It may not be illegal to videotape someone in public, but they still could get in trouble for harrassment. That is if Gene took the time to call the cops. FYI-I don't care if the person is famous or not, you don't go up to someone and start asking them personal questions, that is just rude.

Why is people think celebrities are not human and do not deserve any privacy. They wouldn't like it if someone was following them around taking pictures and asking questions. Why should anyone have to put up with that? If you don't want someone to retaliate against you then leave them alone. Idiots.

How would any one of you like it if someone got in your face and taped you and started asking silly questions when you were trying to shop? Personally, just going near a shopping mall creaps me out because I dislike crowds. I'm sure Gene asked them to stop.. and they didn't, they pushed it and unfortunately he probably had Enough.. I'm not condoning putting your hands on another person, but cmon, boohoo for these envelope pushers. They deserved exactly what they got. I would never go up to someone on their own personal time. The judge needs to give them community service for invading personal space!

Shoulda broke his camera while you were at it.........over his head. People have no manners at all, they think we all owe them whatever attention they think they need.

Some of you are going on and on about being personal Space. And how this person should be counter sued for Video Taping him without permission. If it happens in a Public place. There is no law against Taping it. Do I think it's right ? No, But If you can see it in a public place you CAN Tape it..Just had to throw my 2 cents in there.

Maybe people should respect people's privacy and leave them alone. They had no right going after him during his personal time and try to take pictures and badger him. There has to be laws protecting celebrities, they don't owe us their lives. Gene is a decent man and I am sure he was truly provoked. I hope he counter sues.

Gene Simmons is a fat, misogynistic pig with little talent. He sticks his tongue out like that because he's got little else going for him. Anyone hear his interview with Terry Grose on NPR? He's uncouth, outdated, overrated, and just a thug!

Have to love these fools that stick cameras in peoples faces and ask personal questions, refuse to stop then sue when the person gets pushed to the point of losing self control. If they had any class and or respect they would have snapped a couple of pics and left Gene alone. Now this jerks suing Simmons for defending himself and of course the fool will scream it wasnt his fault. He's lucky Gene didnt shove that camera someplace and snapped a few pics of the jerks prostate. I hope Gene counter sues this piece of trash.
