With swathes of the country coming to a complete standstill thanks to a Christmas far whiter than anyone could have expected, the organisers of 2010's Isle of Wight festival are doing their bit for directing thoughts towards sunnier climes, shorts and sun block with news of the latest additions to the festival's ever-expanding line-up.It's now been confirmed arch-hipsters Vampire Weekend and the newly-reunited New Romantics Spandau Ballet have been added to the bill. The New Yorkers will play the Saturday while the 80s hitmakers will grace the main stage the following day.
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport between Jun. 11 - 13 and boasts headlining slots from the Strokes and rapper Jay-Z. As previously reported, they will be joined by Blondie, Daisy Dares You, Doves, Friendly Fires, James, Ocean Colour Scene, Orbital, Paloma Faith, Pink, Shakespears Sister, Squeeze and the Saturdays.
