Contrary to past statements, Trent Reznor says he's planning to continue making music under the Nine Inch Nails moniker. Reznor shared the news with fans -- who have pondered the band's fate since it retired from touring last fall -- in a holiday greeting posted on his official website late last week."2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn't Nine Inch Nails," Trent wrote. "I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need."
Reznor, who married former West Indian Girl singer Mariqueen Maandig earlier this year, also let NIN fans know that he has had enough rest and relaxation for a while. "Happy holidays everyone and thank you for an exceptional year!" he said. "Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I've been working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work."
Reznor also shared four "miscellaneous" performance clips from Nine Inch Nails' 2009 tour, including renditions of 'Last' and 'The Way Out Is Through' caught live in New Jersey, 'Somewhat Damaged' from the Roskilde Festival and a rendition of 'I'm Afraid of Americans' from Toronto.
