Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy Sullivan died Monday after he was found unresponsive at his Huntington Beach, Calif. residence. The body of the 28-year-old musician, who fans and bandmates called "The Rev," will undergo and autopsy according to a report in the Ocean County Register."It appeared to be natural causes," Lt. John Domingo of the Huntington Beach Police Department told the newspaper. "It's a coroner's case." However, Antiquiet suggests Sullivan, who is survived by his wife, Leana MacFadden, "had a reported history of hard drug use."
The members of the Avenged Sevenfold camp are clearly distraught and took to its website Monday to write, "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope you will respect their privacy during this difficult time."
According to the Register, a Facebook page for Avenged Sevenfold had received approximately 5,000 comments from fans responding to news of Sullivan's death. The five-piece -- founded in Huntington Beach in 1999 and recently at work on a fifth studio album according to a Myspace post by bandmate Zacky Vengeance -- won MTV's Best New Artist Video Music Award in 2006. It's self-titled fourth album, released in 2007, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album survey.
