Norah Jones Says Acting Helped Her Music Career

'Chasing Pirates,' the first video from Norah Jones' new album, 'The Fall,' is an imaginative clip that finds the singer-songwriter in almost every scene. If Jones looks at ease steering a building like a ship through the streets of New York, you can credit her acting debut in 2007's 'My Blueberry Nights,' in which she co-starred with Jude Law, Natalie Portman and more. Jones says the film made her more relaxed in front of the camera."It did help me with making videos. It kind of made me more excited to do a video and more comfortable," she tells Spinner, noting that the it also helped her musically. "It helped my performing, I think. I'm a little shy on stage, so doing that film really helped me come out of my shell."
Given the positive impact doing 'My Blueberry Nights' had on two aspects of her music, is Jones interested in doing another movie? "I'm not pursuing it," she says. "It was fun though and if something came up that seemed interesting and I wanted to take the time to do it, I would for sure."
Jones got a little spoiled in her film debut, working with director Kar Wai Wong ('In the Mood for Love') and Hollywood royalty, including Law, Portman, Rachel Weisz and David Strathairn. So who would she like to work with next? "I haven't thought about it too much, but I'm sure there are a lot of people I'd say yes to without thinking twice," she says laughing. Check out the video from 'Chasing Pirates' below.
