Badly Drawn Boy has said fans should prepare for a surprise for his next album, which comes out ten years after his Mercury-winning debut 'The Hour of Bewilderbeast.'Talking to BBC 6 Music, Damon Gough said he felt he had returned to the more adventurous spirit of his 2000 debut.
He said, "I really honestly feel like I'm back to the beginning. Whatever's been done in the past is done, whatever I've achieved or not achieved."
He added, "Because I'm always really frustrated that I don't put across what I'm capable of doing, I know that I've got ideas that are very difficult to achieve."
Gough will release his seventh album in 2010, after he recorded the soundtrack to the TV movie 'The Fattest Man, is There Nothing We Can do?'
The Mercury winner said he was enjoying his time in the studio.
"The people I'm working with in the studio, it feels like family. I can walk in any day of the week and say, 'Right I've got this idea I came up with it two minutes ago and we're gonna record it now.'
"It's a feeling of spontaneity and not being afraid. In the past I've been stifled by my own abilities."
Gough also said he was no longer with label EMI, which released his last studio album proper, 2006's 'Born in the UK.'
