Good news for Travis fans: Frontman Fran Healy's upcoming solo album will feature performances by Sir Paul McCartney and Neko Case. Healy announced the news of those heavy-hitting guests, who are slated to appear on a disc that he has tentatively titled 'Wreckorder', in a pair of recent blog posts."One of the biggest coups was getting Paul McCartney to play bass on a song," Healy wrote of his first-ever solo disc. "I'm not sure what non-McCartney songs he's played bass on but I couldn't think of many. Anyways his bassline is brilliant."
Healy also says he thanked Macca for his studio effort at the former Beatle's recent show in Berlin by pledging to go vegetarian along with his wife, Nora. "He was visibly flabbergasted," Healy said. "Three days later the Fed Ex man delivered three Linda McCartney cookbooks."
As for working with Case, who duets on a 'Wreckorder' track, Healy said he drove from New York to Vermont on a Sunday last month to record vocals with her. "She's a brilliant singer," Healy blogs. "I met her in Berlin at her show and asked if she would like to do something. 'Sure' she said so I wrote a song for us to sing together."
