Following on from the announcement that Hole will perform as part of the NME Shockwaves Festival this February in support of Courtney Love's new album 'Nobody's Daughter,' the former frontwoman has been talking about resurrecting the band that shot her to rock prominence in the 90s. "I don't function well without a real band," Love told Spin.com.
Love has faced protests from fans about using the Hole moniker without the involvement of integral former members Eric Erlandson and Melissa Auf der Maur, who themselves have voiced their own displeasure.
"Nobody asks Trent: 'why Nine Inch Nails?'" said Love, referring to Trent Reznor's revolving door of musicians who accompanied him under the banner of Nine Inch Nails. "I made the band name up."
The show at 02 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Feb. 17 is followed by shows in Milan and Amsterdam. These mark the band's first shows in 11 years, with Auf der Maur rumoured to be involved for the Amsterdam gig on Feb. 21.
Those definitely joining Love in Hole's new age are 23-year-old British guitarist Micko Larkin (formerly of Larrikin Love), bassist Shawn Dailey and drummer Stu Fischer.
