Pearl Jam and Rammstein to Play Bilbao Festival

Grunge veterans Pearl Jam have announced another date on the European festival circuit this summer. Already announced as headline act at Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park on Jun. 25 and rumoured for Glastonbury Festival the following day, Pearl Jam have been booked to top the line up at the Bilbao BBK 2010 Festival.

Also announced for the Spanish festival which takes place from Jul. 8-10 are pyrotechnic-friendly German industrialists Rammstein.

BBK marks Pearl Jam's first European festival date since Belgium's Rock Werchter in July 2007, while hard Rock Calling will be their first outside UK shows since 2006's Reading Festival.

Back in 2000 Pearl Jam hinted that they would quit festivals after nine fans were crushed to death during their set at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, despite the band's attempts to get the crowd to move back to avoid the crush.

"It's about the worst thing that can happen to a rock band," guitarist Mike McCready said at the time. "People shouldn't have to die at rock concerts."
