Santigold Steps in to Produce Devo Tracks

It's been said that you should never meet your heroes but this is one maxim that Santigold -- that'll be Santi White to her mum -- has chosen to ignore. Speaking with Paste magazine, the multi-tasking singer-songwriter-producer has revealed that she's producing long-time idols Devo.

Speaking of the experience, Santi said, "It was amazing.

"They're just, like, my band idols. Them and the Smiths. But Devo, I made them pull out the red hats and pose for a picture."

No further details have come through as to when an eager public can get to hear the fruits of that particular labour, though.

Not that White is a stranger to working with other artists. As previously reported in Spinner, she's been collaborating with pop singer Christina Aguilera, as well as having previously worked with the likes of Lily Allen, Ashlee Simpson and GZA. Be that as it may, her main focus is working on the follow-up to her 2008 debut, 'Santogold.'

"I am starting my new record right now," she confirmed, "and I'm really excited about it because I've been on the road for three years - literally, three years - and it's been a lot."

She added, "This will be a creative year for me."
