Tinted Windows to Release New Single
- Posted on Jan 7th 2010 12:00PM by Linda Laban
Before heading off for a tour of Japan this month, Tinted Windows will perform what is likely to be its final US gig for the foreseeable future. The show is a special one-off, as the pop rock supergroup comprising Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger and Hanson's Taylor Hanson on vocals performs at the annual Red Sox Hot Stove Cool Music charity concert at Boston's House of Blues on Jan 9.Before the members return to their other groups, they plan to release one more single, 'Back With You.' Though the exact release date is under wraps right now, Taylor Hanson tells Spinner they plan to "go out on a high note."
"We're just trying to find the right match for it," he says of the song. "We want to put it out in a new way. We don't just want to put it out. We want it to be something fresh." That could mean pairing it with some outtakes from the album's recording sessions.
"There are some and we're toying with the idea of recording some stuff in Japan. But I'm probably saying too much," he says with a laugh. "The main deal is that we're allowing it to have a life of its own. We're not saying that we're ending the chapter completely. But, definitely, absolutely, this single is probably going to be the last for a while in the US."
While definitely, absolutely, probably don't quite add up, the statement bodes well for a second Tinted Windows album. "Yeah, we're not saying there's not another album," Hanson says, "but we're also not aggressively pursuing it and waiting on baited breath for the next one. Because that's not the nature of it, you know?"
