Martyn my good man, how much music that comes down the pike is not derived from something else. Simon and Garfunkle got their first record deal as a duo called Tom and Jerry because they sounded like the Everly brothers.
A comment for Martyn - admittedly this track does make Rouse sound like a "Paul Simon wannabe" but this is not usually the case. Check his album Nashville, it's excellent.
Yeah - it does sound like a Paul Simon tribute! But I like Paul Simon songs, so enjoyed this one a lot too.
I don't usually comment on things like this, unless it's to make a positive comment, but in this case I'll make an exception. I really didn't like this. I found it derivative - he's a wannabe Paul Simon without the song writing talent. The guitar playing is, at best, average and the song itself is simply awful. Sorry, but that's how I feel.
martyn, what do you do? do you play, have you got how many albums released?
As a music lover of all genres and a musician myself, I can honestly say Josh ROuse is one of the greatest and most underrated musicians of all time. It's a real shame more people don't know about him. He's got a great voice and he's an incredible songwriter. I cannot wait to see him at the Birchmere in Virginia in February. Thanks Josh and thanks Spinner!Daniel
