Monsters of Folk Working on Second Album

UPDATE: Representatives for the band told Spinner that the Twitter account used to make the announcement was not run by Conor Oberst and no album is in the works.

Conor Oberst has revealed through his Twitter account that supergroup Monsters of Folk have started working on their second album together.

The folk rock supergroup features My Morning Jacket's Jim James, M Ward and Mike Mogis -- as well as Oberst -- with the Bright Eyes singer tweeting that "Monsters of Folk are writing new material." Oberst added they "can't wait for you to not have to anymore (sic)."

A self-titled debut album was released last year to great acclaim, with the group playing just a handful of live shows in Europe.

Jim James has also this week announced he is launching a record label, Removador. As reported yesterday on Spinner, the press statement said: "Whether it's collaborating with his band mates, recording guest vocals or hand-picking opening acts, My Morning Jacket's Yim Yames has always radiated a spirit of camaraderie with his fellow musician."
