"It was not Muse ever," Leterrier told MTV. "It was Matt Bellamy. I love Muse, I'm the biggest Muse fan ever, but I wanted something a little different."
"[Matt] wrote a lot of stuff, but he started his tour," the director explained. "So not so long ago, he called me and he was like 'Louis, I'm so sorry. I have to be respectful to my audience and professional and I have to stop on 'Clash.'"
According to Leterrier, the plan was for Bellamy to help Craig Armstrong, who worked with him on the 'Incredible Hulk' score, by contributing a half an hour's worth of music. So while Muse fans may be disappointed by the news, Leterrier says he still wants to work with Bellamy.
"On my computer I've got great Matt Bellamy stuff," the director said. "It's like a rain check, like let's do something later."
'Clash of the Titans' stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Gemma Arterton, and is due out in March.
