It's been a long time coming but it's been confirmed that Yoko Ono will play the first Plastic Ono Band gig in 40 years when the band takes the stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York on Feb. 16. She will be joined by original band members Eric Clapton and bassist Klaus Voorman. The show promises to be something of a special event as joining the trio will be Paul Simon, singer Bette Midler, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon as well as Ono's son, Sean Lennon.
The Plastic Ono Band was originally a banner under which John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, would release non-Beatles related endeavours and the band's first release was 'Give Peace A Chance' which was recorded in a hotel room in Montreal, Canada. The album that followed, 'Live Peace in Toronto 1969', also featured future Yes drummer, Alan White.
Yoko Ono revived the Plastic Ono Band name last year when she released the critically acclaimed album, 'Between My Head and the Sky.'
Also taking part in the concert will be Martha Wainwright, Mark Ronson and the Scissor Sisters.
