Animal Kingdom Get Animated in 'Two by Two' Video

Holed up in a North London church-turned-studio, Animal Kingdom are gathering material for their sophomore album just months after the release of their breakthrough debut, 'Signs and Wonders.' The British quartet will be checking in during their creative brainstorming process with personal anecdotes and photos. Here, the band takes fans behind the scenes of the video shoot for their next UK single, 'Two by Two.'Christmas was a short one for us all this year, we had just enough time to stuff our faces with our mum's roast turkey and then head back to London to film the 'Two by Two' video, which is the next single in the UK and comes out on February 15th.
We decided to work again with the mysterious but masterful Thomas Hicks, who last year spent a month making an animation for our finale track 'Chalk Stars.' He ended up working on Christmas day to get it finished, but was all worthwhile as it has been nominated for a British Animation Award. To see it and the making of documentary check out our YouTube channel.
So we basically left the concept in his capable hands and turned up to shoot in our Church on 30th Dec. His concept was to mix film and stop animation, so it meant a lot of sitting very still, freezing our knackers off and making the same movements over and over again. Wayne and I spent most of the day playing chess, but were not allowed to capture any pieces from each other as Tom needed the board to be constantly busy. Hamish was on the Rubik's Cube and curses were thrown left right and centre as all day he tried but never came close to finishing it. Rich was asked to read a book Tom had made of symmetric images -- now, this all may sound a bit weird, but I'm sure it will all make sense when its finished... Well, actually, knowing Tom, it won't make any sense at all except to him and select few people who are on heavy medication, but will look beautiful...

We then did a few shots in the gallery of the Church as the stained glass windows look great. There were no electric sockets up there, so Wayne had to play his iPhone through a loud speaker for the lip sync parts.

You can see Hamish is trying to be helpful, but to be honest, he has no idea why he is making a square with his hands...

The last part of the filming was of us playing, and although playing the song 20 times while Tom shot from different angles got a little tedious, it did keep us warm. It'll all be finished and on YouTube at the end of February, so keep your eyes peeled.
