F--ed Up Guitarist Joins Jonas Brothers Onstage in 'Camp Rock II'

F---ed Up guitarist Ben Cook has a side-gig none of us knew about. On top of playing alongside Damian "Pink Eyes" Abraham in their award-winning hardcore band, flexing his "cave pop" muscle in Toronto duo the Bitters and slaving away on solo project Young Governor, Cook has joined the Jonas Brothers' backing band. Er, sorta."I randomly landed an extra job on their Disney movie ['Camp Rock II: The Final Jam'] last summer," Cook tells Spinner. "Music has really led me to strange and far places all over the world and I've met some psychotic characters. But never would I have thought I would be the backing drummer in a Jonas Brothers movie," he says with a smirk.
"I don't even play the drums!"
The surreal experience, consisting of long hours behind a drum kit atop a revolving stage lit up by pyrotechnics, will be described in full detail on an upcoming Young Governor record, according to the Toronto musician, who lists the acting job as "one of the funniest things" he's ever done.
The showbiz-inspired ditty also pays tribute to Cook's extra agent. "It's loosely based on a lady that I've never really met but basically puts money into my bank account," Cook explains. "The Jonas Brothers are all over the layout too. The cover is Nick Jonas with my eyes photoshopped over top."
While a punk rocker doesn't sound like a likely ally for a pack of squeaky-clean pop-tarts, Cook developed quite the appreciation for the famous siblings after working on their flick. "Everyone on set was always super happy and always hugging, it was really disgusting. But the Jonas Brothers were actually these chilled-back guys that didn't really care about all that stuff," he says
As for the big extravaganza Cook had envisioned to relive his special time with faux-bandmates Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas, well, let's just say the whole affair is sounding a bit more subdued than he'd originally pictured.
"I just heard that it's going straight to video," Cook says, sadly. "That really botches my plans to go to a movie theater and check it out."
