The Coral, who suffered a set back after fourth album, 2007's 'Roots and Echoes', with the departure of guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones two years ago, have recruited some big name production help to get things back on track for their fifth effort.John Leckie, who is widely celebrated for his work on the Stone Roses' debut and Radiohead's 'The Bends' (albeit less so for Kula Shaker's 'K' or Cast's 'Mother Nature Calls'), is currently manning the mixing desk as the Scouse rockers complete work on a new disc, due for release later this year.
The award-winning producer has also collaborated with Muse (on 'Showbiz' and 'The Origin of Symmetry'), My Morning Jacket (on 2005's 'Z') and Rodriga y Gabriela (on their self-titled debut), and is responsible for a trio of mid-80s Fall albums.
"It's a bit different because Bill's left, but it still sounds like The Coral," frontman James Skelly told NME.com of the work-in-progress recording. "There's no point trying to replace him or compete [with him as a guitarist], it's just a different thing."
