As Spinner previously reported, atop the growing list of Haiti-related benefit concerts, Wyclef Jean has partnered with George Clooney for a massive telethon event. Entitled 'Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief,' the show is sponsored by MTV Networks but will air across the dials -- on every major network and then some -- on Friday at 8PM ET. The telethon will also be webcast by a number of online outlets including AOL, Hulu and YouTube, with social media support from Facebook and Twitter.MTV reports that more than 100 big names have signed on for the telethon, including Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and Coldplay. One of the evenings special collaborations will pair U2's Bono and the Edge with Jay-Z and Rihanna. Another real-life mash-up set to take place: Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow and Keith Urban.
The event will be broadcast live from New York, Los Angeles, London and Haiti with all the donations to be split equally among the participating organizations, including Yele Haiti, Oxfam America, Red Cross and Partners in Health.
