The news that Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is set to make an appearance at this year's Coachella festival has started rumours his all-star band featuring Red Hot Chili Pepper's Flea will be backing him.The Californian festival, which is scheduled to take place Apr. 16 - 18, will be headlined by Jay-Z, Muse and Gorillaz and will feature performances from LCD Sounsystem, Them Crooked Vultures, Pavement and MGMT.
Confusion was rife after Yorke was billed as 'Thom Yorke????' though it has now transpired that was down to the fact that the singer has failed to come up with a name for his latest side project. The band will be made up of the same members that played with him in Los Angeles last year, namely Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea, R.E.M. and Beck drummer Joey Waronker, producer Nigel Godrich and Brazilian musician Mauro Refosco.
Yorke is shaping up for a busy year. Co-hosting the Gilles Peterson show on BBC Radio 1 earlier on Wednesday (Jan. 20), Yorke confirmed that his Eraser band would be back in action in April. Though this is likely to be a series of gigs, he added that these could "lead somewhere [else] as well". An album, per chance? Watch this space...
