This week, he helped Spoon usher in their new record 'Transference' and paired up Joss Stone with throwback soul singer Raphael Saadiq, but over the years, he's also clearly picked up a few things in terms of song licensing fees. One of the recurring Conan bits over the years has been to try out outlandish characters on the audience, but last night he instead tried out the most expensive character.
"Until NBC yanks off the air, we can do pretty much anything we want," he said. "And they have to pay for it." He then went on to unveil his new character, a Bugatti Veyron car dressed as a mouse. "As you can hear, the mouse's theme song is the original master recording of the Rolling Stones' classic 'Satisfaction.'"
His estimate of the sketch's cost? $1.5 million. Whether or not Mick and company -- or their lawyers -- will come after NBC remains to be seen, but in terms of enacting revenge towards a network that is struggling, we'd say this is pretty cold. And genius.
