'Radiohead for Haiti' Benefit Announced for Los Angeles

News spread like a viral wildfire on Thursday evening about a last-minute, super extra special benefit concert that Radiohead threw together to raise funds for Haiti relief efforts. The event will take place this Sunday, January 24, in Los Angeles at the Music Box Theatre. In some ways even more exciting than the "Hope for Haiti" mega-telethon scheduled for Friday night, the "Radiohead for Haiti" concert is taking an opposite approach -- the venue holds just 1,300 people and tickets are being auctioned off to the highest bidders. The auction gets underway at 8PM PT on Thursday and will end at 11AM PT on Saturday.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Oxfam Haiti. In a message on the band's official website, drummer Phil Selway writes, "We're in the middle of recording at the moment, so you'll be catching us on the fly." Correction: 1,300 extremely lucky fans will be catching you "on the fly," Phil.
