As if Lilith Fair wasn't already stacked with talent, Gossip (pictured), Norah Jones, Loretta Lynn, Cat Power, La Roux, Heart and half a dozen others have all signed on for the comeback of the mega-successful touring festival. They join a loaded roster of female talent that includes Sheryl Crow, Tegan and Sara, Erykah Badu, Ke$ha, Brandi Carlile, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Meaghan Smith, Metric and, well, loads more. The official update on the Lilith Fair website promises "more major artists" to be announced before the 2010 edition launches this summer. As Spinner previously reported, this tour marks the big return of Lilith Fair after an 11-year break. Created by Sarah McLachlan, Lilith Fair launched in 1997 and ran for three successful summers, during which it was attended by more than 1.5 million fans and raised more than $10 million dollars for women's charities. It also raised awareness and appreciation for women that rock.
"When I first started out, they said girl singers couldn't sell records or concert tickets," said Loretta Lynn in a statement. "We've come a long way since then and we're gonna have a big time out there!"
On Thursday, promoters also announced the addition of 15 more cities to the tour, with the promise of even more to come. A big time out there, indeed.
