Veteran rockers Primal Scream have revealed they have started work on their next album.Bass player Mani told NME.com that the band are in the early stages of putting together songs for the new LP, follow up to 2008's 'Beautiful Future.'
"This year is a writing year and it's going well," said Mani. "We're trundling along. We've got some half ideas left over from the last album, so we'll bring them up and give them a kick around, we're into it."
Mani is also putting the finishing touches to the forthcoming Freebass album, the band he put together with fellow lords of the four-string, New Order's Peter Hook and former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke.
"We've got like one more week left and then we're going to draw a line under it," he explained. "You're never gonna be 100% happy with anything you do, I never am and I never will be, so it'll be nice to finish things off and then get out and start playing the tunes."
2009 was a busy year of touring for Primal Scream, who are already confirmed for this year's Reading festival and Japan's Fuji Rock. An EP release, entitled 'When Two Worlds Collide', is also in the offing.
