Michael Monroe's New Project Revealed by Bam Margera

In typical, faux-glamorous style, rocker Michael Monroe held a press conference in Hollywood on Monday, hosted by pro-skater and MTV celebrity Bam Margera, to announce Monroe's new solo band and discuss plans for their upcoming album. Monroe first rose to prominence as the frontman for Hanoi Rocks in the early 1980s and, thus, helped usher in the glam-rock scene that would eventually overtake the Sunset Strip by the end of that decade.
Hanoi Rocks initially disbanded in 1985, months after drummer Nicholas 'Razzle' Dingley was tragically killed in a car crash in the Hollywood Hills. Motley Crue's Vince Neil was driving... and intoxicated. Monroe pursued his solo career through the '90s but reunited with a reconfigured Hanoi Rocks for much of the past decade. His new band, as revealed on Monday, features fellow Hanoi Rocks bandmate Sami Yaffa on bass.
Monroe will take his new project into the studio this spring, accompanied by a short tour that will kick off in San Francisco, Calif. on March 11 and which will include an obligatory stop at SXSW. In the meantime, fans and would-be glam rockers can download the free iPhone application, 'Michael Monroe Mobile Backstage,' for updates and various band-fan interactions.
