After more than two decades of dormancy, British ska revivalists the Specials reunited last year in time for a celebratory 30th anniversary tour. That jaunt, which trekked across the U.K., kicked off with a BBC television appearance on "Later ... With Jules Holland."Billboard now reports that the Specials will mark their long-awaited return to the United States on April 13 with a televised performance on NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Those keeping score already know that the Specials will then head to the Southern California desert for a highly-anticipated set at Coachella on April 16. One additional U.S. performance has been announced so far -- April 21 in New York -- with at least a few more on deck.
The Specials bitterly disbanded in 1981 and not all of the original members are over it; founding keyboardist and songwriter Jerry Dammers has refused to take part in any reunion and has voiced his disapproval of the whole venture. Singer Terry Hall (pictured), who formed the band with Dammers in 1977, has shot back publicly. Easy, fellas.
